Sydney Hong Kong

Introduction

The start of this journal provides the opportunity to answer a very important question. Why am I travelling? To see the world? How cliche. To make people jealous with pretty Instagram photos? Not really (but it's a bonus). To ‘find my fortune’? Thanks you Oli (AKA Legs/Stock) for that poetic motivation, but that’s not it either. My four-year-old friend Beego wanted me to take his Lego Kelpie on a trip. Full disclosure, I am not sponsored by Woolworths Bricks Farm (yet).

It is my greatest pleasure to introduce everyone to Benny, also known as Waffle to his friends.

The day before my flight, I watched my sister and dad play baseball. I got myself a delicious canteen pie, walked back to the glorious bottom-division shenanigans and checked my pockets. Waffle was not in there. Waffle had decided Bonnet Bay Baseball Club was a great place to take a walk. The emergency search that followed took about half an hour. I was just about ready to get a LOT of practice Photoshopping kelpies into pictures when I finally found him sitting in a patch of dirt the perfect shade of brown for the ideal camouflage.

That brings us the flight out of Sydney. After a teary-eyed goodbye (actually, everyone was suspiciously happy, no clue why that would be), I got myself a seat with no neighbour. I have walk away from every pokies machine I've ever sat at with my tail between my legs, but for some reason the pay back is, I am almost always seated by myself on planes. I'll take that tradeoff. Next stop, HONG KONG!

The in-flight meal I chose was called ‘Pork Mince Conjee’ and it was my breakfast. It tasted as delightful as it looked.
